The Virginia Methodists for A New Thing movement values a diversity of voices. The blog posts shared here come from authors from around the Conference with a variety of viewpoints. They are lay and clergy; male, female, and non-binary; members of the LGBTQIA family; people of color and people who are white; cisgender and gender non-conforming. The authors featured here all share one thing in common: they hear the call of God to a new thing and are raising their voices to proclaim this good news.
“I’ll never forget the moment I found out that the United Methodist congregation I began to call home in high school voted to join the Global Methodist Church,” Jacob shared. “The idea of me, or someone like me, preaching the Word of God so offended enough Christians that an entire denomination was breaking apart.”
